CCHS Guidance Newsletter
Every Friday, starting September 18th, the Guidance Department Staff will be outside the cafeteria during all 5 lunches. Students can make appointments with their guidance counselors and/or have access to college and career resources.
Outside the cafeteria there will also be college representatives available to talk with students regarding their schools and what they have to offer.
September 16th : American International College 5th period
October 7th : Merrimack College 5th period
October 15th, Goodwin College 9-10 am in guidance
After October 15th, all college representatives will only be available on Fridays outside the cafeteria during 5th period.
This fall all guidance counselors are meeting with Senior’s to discuss their plans for after high school.
Letters of recommendation and college applications requests require at least two weeks for guidance Counselors to complete.
September 15th Last day for any drop/adds to classes.
September 18th Deadline to sign up for the ACTs on October 24th Sign up at actstudent.org
October 9th Deadline to signup for the November 7th SAT exam. Please go to www.collegeboard.com and register for the SATs. See your guidance counselor if you have questions or need a fee waiver.
October 13th Open House at Chicopee Comprehensive High School from 6-8pm
October 14th PSATs All 10th AND 11th grade students:
Class lists will be posted outside the cafeteria on Tuesday, October 13th.
PSATs- All 10th and 11th grade students will have the opportunity to take the PSAT exam for free on October 14th at CCHS. For all other students, school will start at 11:00am. No registration is required.
The PSAT exam has multiple benefits for our students. It prepares students for the SAT exam, encourages college and career planning, identifies the areas they need improvement in and provides them with scholarship opportunities. Students may obtain a Student Guide to review for the PSATs from their English teacher.
October 21st College Fair in CCHS gym, 10:45 to 11:30am for juniors and seniors. Students will be called down to the fair.
If the student needs to take his/her English Benchmarks during 4th or 5th period please do not send him/her down
November 3rd Professional Development Day
November 4th, 5th and 6th ELA MCAS re-test
November 9th & 10th Math MCAS re-test.

2015 Massachusetts College Application Celebration.
MCAC encourages students to taka a significant step toward college by providing assistance and building excitement for the college application process. The goal is to give every graduating senior the opportunity to complete at least one college application. This helps build a college-going culture and allows our school the opportunity to ensure that all seniors strongly consider pursuing a post-secondary education.
November 19th- MEFA workshop at CHS
MEFA’s mission is to increase access and college affordability across the
Commonwealth through low-cost financing alternatives, college savings programs and educational financing expertise on planning, saving and paying for higher education.
November 24th Staff and Class of 2015 Alumni Day 5th period CCHS library Current seniors and staff can join graduates of 2015 to see how they are doing and to hear about their after graduation experiences.
All Baked goods are welcome!!!
December 2nd 2015 ASVAB - 7:45-11AM. Please sign up in the guidance office. Grades 10- 12 are eligible and can retake multiple times. The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military.
December 9th Avanza Night CCHS 5:30-7:30 pm
“Start Near, Go Far- Transfer Opportunities”.
Avanza is a free support program for college bound students and their families.
This presentation looks at opportunities at community colleges and the transfer options available. This is a great cost saving opportunity for all seniors!
January TBA Program of Studies Night at CCHS for incoming 9th graders for the 2015-2016 school year. (Snow day TBA)
