Renaissance Club
Renaissance Club Advisors:

Purpose:
The Renaissance Program at Chicopee Comprehensive High School is a nationally-recognized movement to reward student achievement. The club’s goal is to recognize and reward students’ academic and personal achievements within the school setting. The Renaissance Rewards program acknowledges students who earn Honors, High Honors or Perfect Attendance during each term of the school year. This year the Standout Student program will allow teachers to nominate students who have performed in an outstanding way in the classroom on a weekly basis. Members of the Renaissance Club work with the advisors to coordinate activities, network with community businesses for program sponsorship, and develop new programs to reward student achievement. The Renaissance Club sponsors the annual Staff vs. Students Basketball Game and the annual So You Think You Can Dance with the Teachers show.

2012 Project:
The Renaissance Club has begun a very exciting project for this school year. We will be
working with Mr. Morrison, and hopefully several
departments at CCHS, to develop core values for our school. Our vision is to identify
single-word values that embody what is "good and right" for our school community. We
will have display cases througout the building depicting these words in a multitude of
ways. We have identifiied the core values to be Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance,
Integrity and Honesty.
We would love to have the school community help us represent these values in any way that
you think would be effective. Perhaps it could be in a writing assignment that further
explains the meaning of the word. Perhaps it could be an artistic interpretation of the
characteristic. Maybe a photograph could define the sentiment without words. Maybe a
metal sculpture could represent the word in a non-traditional manner. We are open to any
idea that is presented and are excited for the variety of media that this project will
incorporate.
One of our members is using this idea as her senior project. She will be working on
developing these values in a narrative that will be placed in each display case.
