MCAS is an acronym for Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System. Students in Massachusetts are tested in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science starting in grade 3.
The state has begun the transition to the Next-Generation MCAS tests, which are computer-based exams. All Chicopee students (in grades 3-HS) participating in MCAS will take the ELA and Math assessment digitally. Students in grades 5 and 8 will also participate in the Next Generation Science exams. The first Next-Generation HS Science tests will be administered in June 2022.

Just as your child's report card shows how he/she is doing in different subjects, the school's report card shows how a school or district is doing in different areas. Report cards are typically released by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education every January for the previous school year.
